Local church is seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic, self-motivated, customer friendly Accountant/Business Manager to oversee day to day financial and business operations.
Qualified candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in Accounting and have at least 3 to 5 years overall Accounting, Management and Customer Service experience. Experience working for a church environment is preferred.
Candidate must possess strong Quickbooks, Excel and contract knowledge skills. Must be able to demonstrate month/year-end closing skills, financial statement reporting, cash handling and reconciliation experience. Resume and background check must confirm level of experience.
Accounting duties will include and are not limited to disbursements, reconciling and research of accounts payable and receivable balances, bank reconciliations, month and year end close, financial reporting, working with the Finance Ministry and CPA to ensure financial stability of church.
Accounting skills should also include the ability to understand taxes and intimate knowledge of a 501 c 3’s. Grant knowledge is preferred. Management skills should include the ability to manage a staff of at least 10 people.
In addition, the qualified candidate should be able to demonstrate or provide employee training plan, facilitate presentations and have good written and verbal communication skills.
The Accountant/Business Manager is responsible for preparing and presenting financial statements to the congregation and officers quarterly. The Accountant/Business Manager must be available for monthly meetings held in the evenings and quarterly Joint Meetings with Trustees and Deacons – typically held on Saturdays. This individual must demonstrate the ability to work well with the staff, Pastor and Officers of the church, fostering positive relationships with the congregation. A qualified candidate must also be able to demonstrate and outline their management style to maintain a productive staff, while creating an environment for cross training and employee growth potential.
